Gms Contract Agreement

The Financial Claims Statement (SFE) establishes payment terms for contractors for general medical services, which are replicated by commissioners to local contractors for Primary Medical Services (PMS) and Alternative Medical Services (APMS). The SFE (Amendment 2) Directions 2020 contains updated conditions from 1 April 2020. This agreement will play an important role in modernizing general practice over the next 4 years and will provide committed support to people with chronic diseases, offer opportunities for increased use of technology-based solutions, local multidisciplinary teamwork and significant improvement in prescribing and drug safety. General medicine is a key feature of the Irish health services and this agreement between DOH, HSE and OMI now makes it possible to extend services to patients and make general practice a more attractive career option for existing doctors and future medical graduates. The document compares the GMS rules and PMS requirements, as well as the GMS contract template and the PMS agreement (as defined below). Contractors should be aware that local derogations from their specific PMS agreement may apply and are not addressed in this note. At the end of January 2019, NHS England published a five-year framework for family doctor services, which was agreed with the General Practitioners Committee (GPC) of the British Medical Association (BMA) in England and supported by the government. It implements obligations in the NHS Long Term Plan for changes to the family doctor contract and sets the direction for basic care for the next five years. Family physicians who do not have a GMS contract or other contracts in the health sector with the HSE should be encouraged to contact the HSE National Contracts Office on 04493 95519 or by email at natcontractsoffice@hse.ie for more information.

NHS England and NHS Improvement as well as the BMA have jointly agreed and published a “GP Contract Update 2020/21 to 2023/24”. This agreement updates and improves the existing five-year GP contract: investment and evolution. In addition, the NHS (Amendments Relating to the Commission of Primary Care Services During a Pandemic, etc.) Regulations 2020 gives the NHS England the power to temporarily suspend parts of the family doctor contract, with the agreement of the Foreign Secretary, to help deal with the Covid 19 outbreak. . .
